I have an 02 fx4 with the 5.4 and I have a hole in my transmission! It starts at bell housing and goes back to the oil pan. It doesnt leak but Im scared it will keep cracking and start leaking so Im gonna replace the whole trans while I have the money. According to the tag on the door I have a 4r70. Wanted to know if I could put in a 4r100, e40d, Im putting some 35s and do alot of mudding and want something heavy duty. Can anyone give me suggestions on what would be my best bet?

 

every 01 and newer 4R70W is built with pretty much the strongest parts available....the custom trans in my car has half of the parts the 5.4L 4R' has...just get another one. Just get a super duty trans cooler from bulkpart.com

 

I found a rebuilt trans from goodfellas for 1295 with converter and shipping. And I dont have to send my core. "which I dont think they would take cause it has a hole in it" And its got a bunch of heavy duty parts on it. Does anyone know anything about that company and thier trans? And Im gona take your advise and get the cooler too.
