Ac recharge?
 

Hey guys,
My ac isn't blowing out the coldest air, its cool but not cold so I'm thinkin it needs a recharge. Can I just get one of those r134 cans from advanced and plug it into the valve and that'll recharge it? Or do I have to take it to a shop?

I wouldn't do one of those cans unless it was blowing hot and I knew there was zero freon left if you over charge it it will blow warm as well your best bet is to evac and recharge the system

I'd hit a shop. Watch out for the cans from Walmart or any other store, mainly for the fact that they have the "sealer" in them. The sealer will seal everything, then you're into the orifice tube, compressor.... Valvoline says they will "service" AC but it is illegal in the United States to charge a system with a known leak. The technician can loose his license.

I just recently bought a can from AutoZone that came with the gauge and everything. My Ford was blowing warm and they told me to put that in it myself and see what happened. After putting the one can in it as the directions said to apply it, Shes blowing cold again and thats been a few months ago. So far so good. I can't remember the name on the can but it was a black can of r134 and cost around 20 bucks. So far it has held up good and that A/C will run you outta the truck. And it wont over fill if you watch the gauge. But it is possible to over fill it !

You really have no way of knowing how much refrigerant is in the system without recovering it and measuring (by weight). If you add without removing it all first-you risk overcharging the system. When an A/C system is recharged it is supposed to be evacuated first to remove any moisture for max efficiency and to prevent freeze-up.

Alright I'll take it to the guy that did my trans, he also does brakes n ac. He's honest and charges a fair price. Just so I know it's all good
