Default Question about tires.

So im back into the truck game after a 6 year hiatus and have been dealing with cars, now i have replaced the tires on there so kind of understand how the tire size works. But i have never tried to put a different size on my car so now i want to upgrade my tires on my truck and am a little confused on what size i need to get. My tires on there now are 265/70/17 i want to go bigger with a T-bar crank need to know what size i can move up to.

Im sitll stuck on 33x12.50x15 as for picking out tires so any help with this metric stuff would be appreciated.

First-97-03 F150s can only run 16" and larger wheels
Second-there are plenty of tire calculators on the web and explanations of how to convert to standard sizes, search
Third- Your stock tires are 32x11.5x17. You can run a 285/70/17 stock(33x12x17). If you use stock wheels you might be able to tuck a 315/70/17(35x12.5x17) with a torsion bar crank but definitely a 305/65/17(33x12.5x17 if that size exists)

1st number: width of tread in mm (285mm)
2nd number: height of sidewall as a percentage of width (75% of 285)
3rd number: rim diameter (17)

tire height is (285 X .75) X 2 + rim size = Height

I usually go on Tirerack.com, click on a tire I like, and them click on the SPECS link.It then gives you the diameters in good old inches.

A 285/70R17 should fill the wheel wells up nicely without stuffing them full. It's right at about 32.8-33" depending on what brand. Popular size with a lot of choices also, which also helps with the prices.

I have 285/70/17 Terra Grapplers with no clearance problems at all. The 305's rubbed the sway bar a little. So went down till I can get a least a 2 inch lift on it. (keys and blocks) should do.

almost forgot, if they fit, nitto makes a 295/70/17 and there cheaper than the 285's. didn't catch that till it was to late.
