There are still good ole Garages & Mechanics
This past Tuesday morning, I dropped off my 98 F-150 at a garage here in Gaston, SC. I picked er up last night after a motor swap out.
I had recently purchased this truck & soon after realizing the origional owner had done nothing other than put gas in the tank & drive this truck til it was on it's last leg then sold it.
Between truck price I paid, parts I installed, used motor 4.6 w/ 78,000 miles on it & 60 day warranty, labor for motor change, new oil, anti-freeze, parts swap from old motor to now installed motor, I have just under $5000.00 in this truck. It is a 1998 F-150, 4.6 extended cab w/ 8 ft bed. That longer wheel base offers a smooth ride. Now to keep my workers from falling asleep in it while driving, hahaha
At least it runs real good now & time to put er to work.
With 5 cars in front of me last Tuesday, the mechanic said he would try & have it for me by Monday or Tuesday of this week & last night by 5 pm he called for me to pick er up. I put about 50 miles on er last evening & runs great! His price was about $200 less than he quoted me, how many times do you hear of that??
I was impressed & especially with these high heat days we have been having with temps into the 100's & their garage only having a fan for air circulation, no a/c !! Yup, I tipped him well & happy to do so!
The owner & mechanic are both die-hard Ford men
