is the vin # located anywhere on the engine just to double check that it hasnt been swapped?

Nope, not a vin. You can look at the drivers side head towards the back to verify casting then year. If the engine was swapped professionally, look inside passenger side motor mount for the tag.

yep I bought the truck with a seized engine, oil filter line had a hole in it, ran it out of oil

Well, so I wrong, that's twice this year.

That sucks! Haven't had problem with the remote system yet, but yea, puncturing that line, oil would go dry quickly. Bet you got a good deal on that one.

$1000 back in 2008, guy wouldn't take any less, near perfect truck other than the motor was locked up.

Great deal. A good engine would run yuh about 1300. I've seen engine and trans go for that price around here.

Each time I see a post like this I want to look down south for one w/blown motor. All I need is the carcass.
