Ok, Next up the Headlight Switch
To do this you do technically have to 'break' the switch.
First Pull the **** out like for fogs and stick something small in the hole to release the ****, now just pull it off
To get to the inside you have to pop the faceplate off, this is what I mean by breaking it.
Attachment 503012
Undo these 2 clips to the first half can pull out
Attachment 503013
grab the shaft and pull it out
Attachment 503014
The next half is harder to get out, the clips are harder to get to, you can see them here
Attachment 503015
Now pull that half out
Attachment 503016
Here is the bulb that your replacing, and the green cover that was on it that I ripped off
Attachment 503017
Now unsolder the leads on the back to pull it off.
Stick the negative lead back in the original hole (lower) and solder it on there
Stick one side of the 680ohm 1/2watt resister in the original hole and solder it on there
Now wrap the positive lead on the LED around the lead on the resistor and solder them together
Attachment 503018
Try to get the new LED as close to the stock bulb location as possible and put the dimmer switch side back in
Attachment 503019
Attachment 503020
Now finish reinstalling the switch parts, I used 2 part loctite epoxy to put the faceplate back on

Saved me the trouble of messing with tape though!
By the way...GREAT write up...thank you. I did the blue in my 03 on my own not realizing there was green tint. Looked pretty bad lol. Now I know how to fix it!

GO SOX!
I actually cut the green sheet up, leaving just the white part. I still have hot spots but not bad. May go over it with some white paint around the letters..on the white sheet.
Saved me the trouble of messing with tape though!

wow this looks so cool, but definitely i lack the patience and dedication to do this mod...
I lack soldering/unsoldering tools and skills and very nervous about removing the cluster (specially the wheels cruise control light)
No way i can do it alone, and here in my country i doubt there's any electrician that can do this for me lol
and i would also need to import all the leds.
Definitely an awesome mod though! green < BLUE is really awesome to see!

While mine is a 98 and didn't have any of the green stuff to remove, I can give an updated led source for the headlight switch and the steering wheel switches that has the resistors already wired inline into it and is a 3mm blue led...they are smaller than the stock bulbs but wire in exactly the same and are plenty bright. You don't have to do any soldering...they're essentially plug and play.
