99 XLT x-cab rear end purring noise
I have recently (2 months ago 200mi) replaced the pinion seal and fluid. Now I have a "purring" (I know it sounds stupid but it’s the best I can come up with) noise when acceleration (no matter how easy). I have replaced the u-joints and still have the sound. When I replaced the seal, I think that I tightened the pinion nut back to where it was (16 1/2 turns). I used the recommended fluid but no additional additives. I hope that I didn't screw up too much. Any help would be appreciated, ideas and/or remedies. Thank you.
