98 Mustang 4.6L in a 97 F150?
Ive found a 74k mile 1998 mustang 4.6L for $600 would it be a direct swap into my 1997 F-150 with the 4.6L? My 97 has 182k on it and has burnt valves and rings. Would it be a direct swap? Ive seen others with gen 10 F150s with mustang 4.6s. While swapping is there anything i should look out for? Also mine is a Windsor 4.6. Im not sure on the mustang. Assuming it dont matter.

I think they are the same modular 4.6 with the minor differences like now with the 5.0. Different intake/exhaust and some different sensors. In theory it should be a direct replacement, but I don't believe it will run correctly without tuning it or replacing the truck parts/sensors. I could be wrong.........which is quite possible. Lol.

I have no idea, but sometimes the typical things to look out for are oil pan, front accessory brackets, water pump rotation, wiring harness and computer.

You should be able to swap your intake over and get some of the grunt back. It's just long runners (trucks Tq) vs short runner (cars Hp). If a shop you know has done it before then I would say it's worth a shot. People on here have been swapping mustang parts to truck parts without any major issues. Since they are both modular engines, I believe that everything should be able to swap back and forth. You will probably have to at least change the exhaust manifolds and oil pan.

Ok. Well you might lose a little bit of torque, but you won't really notice it unless hauling heavy loads. If the sensors are the same plug and play, then it might just be an even swap....minus the oil pan and exhaust manifolds. If you are wanting to keep the exhaust manifolds, you'd have to at least modify your exhaust to accomidate. I believe the mustang manifolds are a higher flow rate since it was in the car.......but don't quote me on that.
