Default (ID?) Plate found under pass. side bed cover

Hey guys! I was getting the bed rail covers off my old bed, and found this plate under the passenger side railing. Any idea what it could be? Asked a few people, and they're as clueless as I am. I see "Super Short 150", "Heritg", and "UA, FX". UA and FX are the two paint codes, Merlot Metallic and Ebony. If anyone could shine a light on this mystery, I'd be appreciative.

Special Order vehicle build tag? I think so. I saw one many years ago in a body shop, and the customer SO'd the truck special. Just a thought.

Truck is a Heritage edition (2003, not 2004), so possibly that? It does specifically address the Heritage package, and both paint codes.

Used the pencil trick to try and get it more legible in a pic.

Have one on mine. I think it is just something they use to track the bed with the cab for color and options?

For what info I grabbed on it, that seems to be looking more an more by the case.

"moon" - I do have a moon/sunroof
"A55205" - Last 6 of vin
"Super" - Possibly supercab?
"short" - short bed?
"150" - F150 (since 250's and 350's essentially used the same begds)
"Heritg" - Heritage edition
"UA" - tuxedo black color
"FX" - Merlot Metallic color

Not sure of the other stuff, but it seems to be as you put it. Another build plate, just mounted on the bed. I suppose so that the correct bed and cab were mounted on the same frame.

Did a bit of looking around online, and didn't get much. However, I did find out I could get a Marti Report on the truck, so I ordered one today. It'll take about 2-3 weeks, but I'm excited to see all the info on this truck. I did happen to send a pic of the plate to Marti Auto when they asked about the door sticker. They told me that it looks like a buck tag for the truck, so I am going to safely assume that is what this thing is. After all, they do this stuff for a living, plus its who Ford goes through for their build sheets.

If any of yall are curious, I'll be posting up the Marti Report when it arrives.

After doing a small search, that's what it is. As one member on another forum put it:

"Buck tags are used by assembly line workers. They refer to them as the tags have codes which tell the workers what parts to install on a specific vehicle."

So, there we are. Mystery solved, and quite the nice tidbit. The more you know~

Marti Report! Seems like the truck was indeed a DSO.

Maybe they used this tag to match the Wheelbase & body style.
