Default Odd electrical issue

Hello,
My 2003 F-150 SuperCab is experiencing a wierd problem that I was hoping someone may have a fix for.

The radio does not work at all and the power windows do not work when the engine is on. The radio has spontaneously come on intermittently and when it does the power windows also work when the ignition is on.

Any ideas where those two ciruits come together?

Thanks.

The ignition switch has 2 circuits. One is the run circuit and the other is the accessory circuit. Try moving the switch back and forth in the on position and see if you can duplicate it.

Default Odd electrical issue

Thanks Bert,
I am continuing to investigate. Based on tangential information gathered from various fora, I have determined that the issue is most likely related to the Accessory Delay Relay.

When I remove the relay the radio works, but the power windows do not. When I replace it the radio stops and the windows begin to work. Being a former DEA vehicle there were other devices connected and some wires soldered to the relay. I'm sure there was a dispatch radio of some sort and whatnot.

I will replace the relay and see if it solves my issue.

Thanks for your suggestion. Electrical issues can be real buggaboos.

Elecctrical issues can be tough enough but when they've been messed with like yors was, it's even tougher.

Well, I had the Accessor Delay Relay out for a while and the raido was working, but not the Windows. then the radio quit. I decided then that the issue is not necessarily with the ADR, but perhaps the GEM or the connection between. I reinserted the ADR and now all works. But, I'm not sure it will stay that way. It seems if I wiggle the ADR and/or remove/insert it causes the radio or windows to cut in or out.
Wondering if the contact between the Fuse box and GEM need to be cleaned. What are your thoughts?

You could try putting dielectric grease on the connector plugs and see if it stays fixed.

Default Fixed

Well, Bert. I decided to take the truck to the Ford Dealer. The ADR that was installed was the wrong size because the DEA had their radio or such hooked to it and as a result overloaded the fuse panel and melted some wire. Hence the intermittentcy. Diagnosis, new relay and fuse panel, reconnect wires. $550. Sheesh.

Those are some of the hardest things to find. Glad it's all fixed now. Thanks for the update.
