Default 98 F150 engine oil cooler hose replacement

I have a 98 F150 stepside with the 4.6l in it. The engine oil cooler hose is leaking where it goes into the engine. Its has been doing this since february when I bought the truck.I think its now time to replace it so I can stop leaking oil all over my driveway. Has any body had any experience replacing one of these? It looks like a tight squeeze on the end that bolts up to the engine. Any tips or pointers on how to make this repalcement go a little easier. Looking to order the part sometime this week and it probly wont be in till end of next week so looking to do this next weekend. Also anyhting else I should look into changing while replacing this beside oil/filter? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

They are not cheap, or easy to do. I have had to replace them. I ended up taking them to a hydraulic hose shop and had them make me some. It cost about $45 bucks. Which is a hell of a lot cheaper than the dealer.

Ya it does not look that easy to do since its such a tight spot where it connects to the engine. There about $120 from autozone where i live. Its leaking right where it connects to the engine at but I have to change it tired of it leaking oil all over my driveway. about how long did it take you to change?

I would spray, break free, WD-40 or something that will penetrate onto your fittings. And do it now, twice a day while waiting for your part to come in, that way it will have time to soak in and make removal a little easier.

Do not get the ones from Autozone. Either get the ones from Ford or have a reputable hydraulic shop do it. I takes about and hr.

+! ^ Get the kit (came with both hoses) from Ford (or RockAuto) - replacement went right in, and the bracket is what actually holds the hoses in (at least that's the way it was on a 2000 Crown Victoria). Ended leak right at the cooler.

Why is everyone so *don't get it at autozone*? I've only once in the last 10 yrs had a bad part from them. We have Napa, Quest, O'Riellys, AutoZone and i've purchased from all of them and had only one or two bad parts from each. I personally think its a crap shoot for refurbished and new parts now-a-days anyway. Most of the stuff is made cheaply and in china or some parts of the item are made in china and assembled in the U.S.

The hoses from Autozone use very poor crimps on the hoses. I have seen them leak right out of the box
