Default 98 F-150 heat help!!!!!

So the heater core in my truck just went out not to long ago which we really think thats what it is but not 100%. Im gonna just bypass it for now and deal with the horrible ordeal of changing it in spring. But i was thinking of getting one of those portable heaters that plug into the cigarette lighter but my dad says all it will do is blow fusses tho. And if they dont what would be a good one to get? Any help would be great Thanks

I would just spend my money on a new heater core and skip the temp heater. It really is not a very hard job to change the heater core. I changed one out many years ago in the middle of winter in Michigan with the temperature around 20 degrees. It was really nice to be back in business with heat for the rest of the winter.

The plug in heaters won't warm your vehicle. I tried that once with my Ranger when my heater core was bad. I just changed my heater core a few weeks ago in my 01 F150. I'm no mechanic, but not really too bad of a job.
