Default 98 5.4 fuel rail question.

How would one go about cleaning the inside of the fuel rail?

I was doing some work on the truck (pulled a head) an I think the fuel rails are gunked up from bugs and stuff while letting it sit for a week. Can I clean it with pipe cleaners and a fuel additive or is that not a good idea?

If you can get all the o rings off you can just hose it down with some brake cleaner aerosol. That stuff works great. All kinds of companies make it, brakekleen, 2+2, even house brands.

Yeah, I don't know why I said fuel additive I meant something like carb cleaner or something. I was more curious if running a pipe cleaner though it would damage it. Like is it literally just a metal piece with 4 holes in it for the injectors and a loop to take the fuel back to the tank or are there parts on the inside?
