Dave, I would seriously recommend giving a call to BCA transmissions. The owner/operator knows his work and is extremely good at what he does. He can build you a reliable trans with a lifetime labor warranty. And 2 year parts warranty. Ever have issues with it for the rest of its life, send it back and have it fixed free of labor charge. At the very least, I highly recommend calling and talking to them or emailing them. They've done many lightning swap trucks before

Thanks, ill keep them in mind. It seems like getting another truck for 1k with a blown motor and working trans is a better deal, i can potentially use the trans and part out the rest and come out making money. Just will have to stop driving crazy.

Furthering my argument that 98 uses OSS as does my 02, the ford parts website also shows the same P/N for both sensors, both in the same location???

Calling parts guy confirms it uses OSS too

98:
http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Pa...rd&model=F-150

2002:
http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Pa...rd&model=F-150

obviouslly we have some conflicting info here, so if anyone has put their hands on both or has pictures of both trans that would be the ultimatum. I wont be surprised if ford site is wrong either tho.

You'll probably blow up the Ford trans pretty quick lol. I'd go with that and be done. Nice and reliable and a great person to contact if you have any issues

This is about the most vague and un informative post. If you can't clarify the questions posed in here then post elsewhere. I'm trying to determine if I purchase this donor truck and don't have time for child's play.

97-98 are different. 97-98 use mechanical speedo gear, 99+ use electronic. Both have different wiring. They won't interchange

Listen, if you can't understand that they WILL NOT INTERCHANGE, then that's fine. Waste your money. Even in YOUR picture it says that the 97-98 are different... I show you that, and you tell me I am uninformative.

Good luck.

To put it succinctly, 97-98 are one. 99 and newer are another. They don't mix well at all. Other than the case and some internals, they are different horses. They don't interchange as plug and play. Save your money and your time and buy what is correct for your application. In this case 99-03.

Dave....you managed to upset a guy who does transmission sales on the side. He is the process of possibly being a member of a trans shop in Utah. He knows these Ford transmissions, and what he doesn't know, he can find out in quick order. If he says it doesn't fit, it doesn't,. Also, I went out on Hollander to check avail on the transmission, and they show 97 as a single year, as well as 98 as a single year transmission. The 99 and up show to 03. If Hollander says it doesn't fit, it doesn't fit.
