Fixed!

Thanks for the help and suggestions.
It was a short to ground on the 3rd brake light circuit. Someone used a 2" long screw to put a metal bracket in under the passenger side rocker panel and screwed right through the wire harness. Had to trace it all the way from the dash board where the circuit split to find it.

Oh well. Brake lights are back!

ABS is off now too. Drove the truck today. Works good.

I know this is an old post. But I had the same issue and my web search led me to this awesome forum. I was able to find my own short right at the shift lever. I decided to make my first contribution to this post with a couple of photos I took while discovering my issue. I was able to wrap the stripped wire harness with electrical tape. It's been some days now and my vehicle is doing great.

I was having an issue with my BOO switch harness. My shifting started to go and after a fender bender and I was no longer able to shift out of park. I discovered one of the two wires to the switch harness had ripped off. I amended that issue. The truck was doing okay until I found myself using the bypass to get home. After reading this thread I found the issue of the stripped wire; After removing some of the steering column covers. I think my radical attempts at shifting, before the accident (I'm assuming that the BOO switch harness' ripped wire was on its last legs before the accident --not making enough contact and making the shift stick), wore out the harness that rubs against the shift lever.

Hopefully this will hold for a bit. But I'm planning on purchasing the new ford part to have on me anyway.

A special Thanks to forum for your contributions!

Fixed with electrical tape.

Change the receptical for the third stop light above rear window as well as the wiring harness under the hood connecting to the cruise control switch mounted on the front of the master cylinder.
