97 No brake lights-Flashing ABS light-Blows Fuse
#11
Nothing suspicious behind the kick panel. The wire harness runs into the engine bay thru the firewall then branches out and runs down the frame to the rear.
I previously had cut the lt green and lt green/red wires that run the brake lights on that branch to rule out a short in the rear of the truck.

WTH? Hmmm I'm gonna hafta ponder this one for a bit, this doesn't make sense... Any one else got any ideas?
There has to be a short, when you put the fuse in it's fine until you hit the brakes? start the truck? when does it blow? sorry if you said that already

Ok I went back, as soon as you touch the brake light it blows... Now are the ABS wires all intact also? something is obviously wrong with that system. but I feel we may be lookin at a couple different problems.
Was the ABS light on before this circuit started giving you trouble? Or it came in one nice little basket?

Maybe I will try to dig out the ABS module in the dash and take a look at that.

Yeah I would go through the ABS system cuz obviously something is wrong throughout that somewhere, then when ya find it it might fix the light and the fuse issue in one shot

It's the cruise control sensor in the master cylinder, it was recalled, and if you don't replace, it your truck will catch fire and burn anytime including sitting in the driveway.
Mine almost did.

He disconnected the cc from the master cylinder and had the same condition... All they do is fuse that hot wire for the recall, if it was the switch it would blow that fuse and your truck wouldn't catch fire and they wouldn't have needed the recall
He has a short some where else...
Anyone wanna check thier manual and see if the tail lights share a circuit with anything?
Its dark out haha
