Default 97 Ford Drivetrain

Hey everyone, My uncles friend has a problem. His 97 F150 with the 4.6 4 wheel drive is broktededed. He was in four wheel, he tried to take it out of four wheel, back to two. It wouldn't go into 2 wheel. He has the turn *** on the dash. So he put it back in four high, then to four low, and it won't shift. So back to four high he goes. Now the damn thing won't go any where. When he puts it in drive it just runs up and the transfer case just clicks, like its stuck in neutral. anyone know what it is or whats wrong with it? thanks in advance.

A) it is stuck somewhere inbetween... 4 low requires it to be in nuetral orr B) if it is a manual hand shifter on the floor sometimes it takes some coaxing to negociate what you want it to do,, OR try backing up and see if it clicks out?? i dunno

Take the electric motor off the back of the transfercase and see if you can get it in 2wd by hand. Make sure the transfercase is full. If its really really low then go ahead and pull it for a rebuild.
