Electrical problems in the rain
I'm wondering if anyone has had a problem like this, or knows about this kind of thing.
I was driving home from my parent's house to my apartment (about 200 miles away) after my birthday and my car broke down.
Here are the details:
It was really wet outside and it had been raining pretty much all day
First, my tweeters and speakers went out, leaving only my sub playing.
Then, the ABS and parking brake lights turned on and off
Then my gauges and needles started going haywire and my lights dimmed and my windows stopped working
Then, this beeping started. It started out slow but got pretty fast.
I pulled of the highway just as my accelerator stopped working and I had to sit and wait for AAA to come.
As I was waiting, I tried cranking up my truck and it would not work, I only heard the loud clicking as it tried to start.
One time it actually started normal, then stopped working about 5 minutes later.
I drive a 97 f150 XLT and my friend thinks a fuse got wet and shorted but what do you guys think? I really could use some advice, but I'm also bringing it in to a repair shop tomorrow

I know the first few years of the arrow body F-150 have leaky antennas. The water follows the antenna wire, and can cause problems. One time I pulled my stereo out, and the wiring harness was wet. The antenna wire was rusted in to the stock stereo too. There is a cheap fix for it though. Best of luck
