Ive just come across a good lead on 2 97 F-150s. Both are V-8 4.6 5sp ext cab short beds. 4x4 has a rotted rear frame but everything else is good it also has less miles. The 4x2 has 240k miles on it but everything is good. looking at $1,500.00 for both. would it be worth swaping the 4wd drivetrain. Looking to get out of my chevy and back into a ford either way. Thanks for any input.

 

for that price i would take it on a project lol i mean if you get both you have everything you need to swap it over

 

Never tried it myself on new ones, but I've read that the 2x4 and 4x4's have distinctly different frames. I don't know if the front suspension from one will go under the other so it's best to check closely first or plan on getting another frame.

 

the worse that happens if u have a drivable 4x2, go for it at that price

 

4dtuff here did a swap a few years back. maybe look up his profile. Really nice guy willing to help out he had a 97 that he switched cabs on from 4X2 to 4X4 Interior wiring was a PITA he mentioned

Thanks, seems like it would not be a bad swap. I just havnt done much on a ford newer then 94. Ill research a little more.
