'97-'98 Gauge Cluster swap question...
After dealing with broken tabs, inaccurate tachometer, and intermittent connections (I hate the film contacts) on my existing '98 cluster, is there an issue with replacing it with a donor? I. E. - are the clusters "married" to the PCM as in some other vehicles, which requires a trip to a dealer to do some voodoo? I don't think I have too many "jury rigs" left in my original, and two of the el cheapo LEDs went out, so it's time to replace those - and make a decision on the cluster itself.

I was having the same issues with mine. Went to the local pick n pull and grabbed a 97 Expedition and it works just fine. Youll have more bulbs in there for the 4AWD and what not but it works perfectly. Just make sure that the caution lights match up cause that mights be annoying.
