Default 97-98 front clip on a 2000

I have a 2000 I want to change the front grille surround to a 97/98 style and delete everything underneath and weld up a custom bumper. Does the 97/98 grille surround mount up the same way?
Thanks and I DID search.

Yes and no. They mount the same way but are shaped completely different. The 99-03 curves down in the middle where the 97-98 is a straight shot across.

Exactly why I want to change. Flat plank or tube will mate up in a lovely gapless fashion. Thanks for the reply.

I also like the 97/98 setup better.

I plan to eventually. I have a lot of maintenance items to catch up on and planning future mods helps motivate me to catch up.

Has to run right before it looks right. All of us understand that. Part of the reason I bought an older truck, to tinker with it.
