Default 9.75 rear end replacing clutch packs. Help

I'm replacing my clutch packs in my 9.75 limited slip rear end with 3.73 gears. I've heard you can do this without pulling the carrier out and was wondering if anyone has done it before/has any advice. Thanks.

Its easy to get the spider gears out. If you dont have experience working around differentials take it to a professional.

Well it's hard to get experience paying somebody else to do it isn't it? They came out no problem (without removing the carrier). Having a little trouble getting them back in though. It feels like the "side" gears are bottomed out however I can compress the clutches with my hand so I don't think they are all the way in. I put the same size spacers in that came out (measured with a caliper tool)

I watched a good video on youtube not to long about doing this very thing. The used a little tool that he made out of a couple carriage bolts some nuts and big washers. Just go to youtube and see if you can find that video on how to replace clutch packs on your axle.

I'm with you mate. As long as very expensive tools aren't needed I can do anything on my vehicle the shop can do. I just rebuilt a clutch pack on an 8.8. Assuming they are similar. Just make sure you are putting the friction plates on in the correct order. You don't have to pull the carrier for sure.

They easiest way to get the spider gears back in are to install the axle shafts. Use a pry bar to spread the gears open and insert one of the spider gears. Hopefully you disconnected the drive shaft. Spin it 180 an just install the other spider gear.

Does anyone know where to buy the clutch packs and bearings? Part numbers maybe? I have the 9.75 rear end.

I ordered the updated Carbon clutch set from Randys RIng & Pinion. It also comes with a new spring shim for proper preload.
