Default 03 F150 supercrew

I love my supercrew. im about to hit 183k miles on mine. I have a 4.6L though, not the 5.4L. just intake and exhaust upgrades. modded stock intake with k&n drop in filter, magnaflow 1 in 2 out muffler. 3.55 gears with 285/75/r16 tires on stock 16s. 3" rough country lift 2wd. average about 15 in town 20-21 highway. i tend to get 17-18 mpg on average. about 400 miles to a tank.

addition: i have had no major issues, bought my truck 2 years ago with 140k miles on it. i drive the heck out of it! shifts good, i do haul trailers and a camper and boat. only regular maintenance and spark plug replacement.

They are a great truck. I have an 01 with 212,000 miles on it and its still runing like a top. I have a body lift, and 285's with efans and a SCT chip and I get 14 mpg mixed. I have only had 1 coil go bad in the 2 years Ive had it. My dad has an 02 with the 5.4 also, he has 310,000 miles on it and only thing major that has needed replacing was the transfer case, and he plows with it all winter and pulls trailers still.

Good luck on the good price, here in Iowa, I can only find ones that have 250k+ for under 10k. I saw one a few months ago had almost 400k and the guy was asking 5500. Nuckin futs!

Everything everyone else said and more, general maintenance, make sure the plugs are tightened down properly, and drive it. If you find one you like take it to a mechanic or tire shop you trust and have them check the front end parts so you know if you'll need to put money in it right away. The front end parts are pretty easy to do yourself if so inclined.

1. What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting and how many miles per tank of gas?
I'm getting 14-16 like everyone else. Hard to beat that with all of these hills around here although I swear my mileage is better one a 55-mph windy road than the interstate.

2. The 5.4 seems to be a pretty reliable engine am I correct? Any problems with these engines? I've heard of coil packs going bad.
I haven't had engine issues yet, All my plugs are assumed original, no blowouts yet... I've got to get a swivel socket and replace them at some point.

3. Transmission issues or are they pretty reliable?
My transmission is smooth as silk, as it should be at 54,220 miles. I don't think last owner had it flushed so I may try to get a pan drop done by 60,000. If you take care of it, it will take care of you. They regularly get over 150k without issues, it seems.

I have had to replace both front end sway bar end links, a passenger side wheel bearing/ hub assembly and fuel pump since purchase in December.

Yea I found a supercrew that I liked a while back in Kansas, it was lifted 4" with 18" rims and I believe 40" tires had the bullbar I want with all the flashy stuff on it, king ranch too and it only had 98k and they only wanted like 8k for it. It was that really dark green color. It was a sharp lookin piece.
