4x4 to 4x2?

4x4 to 4x2?
Now I know it may sound crazy and you'll say why would you ever want to do that? To explain my madness, I have a step side 4x4 and I want to either 1) make more power to the existing motor, or 2) build a motor and slap it in there. The problem I see with this is im limited to how much power I can push out because of stock transmission and tcase. So there's the explanation now how much horsepower do i want? Anywhere between 350 to 410 cause the stock 230 horses from the 4.6 is not enough to fit my love for speed. If there's any way of by passing the whole axle swap by all means tell me. I just want this thing lower than where it sits now and faster than it is now
Thanks for your input

Frame swap is the easiest way to do it. Or buy a cheap 2wd. A stock 4.6 is closer to 160-180rwhp which isn't much. I'm using the 4r70 and transfer case in my truck and will have quite a bit more than 350rwhp probably closer to 500rwhp

So there isn't a way to just swap front axles out?

You can drop the front driveshaft but you have to keep the cv shafts and diff in there

If you're going to build an engine like you speak of, it's pretty much given you'll kill any stock tranny in these eventually. Could be 1k miles, or it could be 100k.
A built 4r70w is going to handle anything you could reasonably do to the engine, 400+.
Changing the gear ratio will give the feeling of more power and lower the amount of constant tinkering that comes with heavy engine mods, unless you enjoy that, some guys do.
As they say, you gotta pay to play.

Torque makes you feel your acceleating fast not horsepower. 4.6 accelerate fast but you can't feel the torque pushing you back on the seat. Test drive a 4.2 V6.
