Default 4wd front wheel bearings

Well it's time for wheel bearing in my truck, I know the rear is just the bearings, but for the front do I have to replace the whole hub assembly or can I just put new bearings in there too?

I would replace the whole hub. I just did mine not too long ago. I got my hubs from 1Aauto.com they come with a 2 year warranty and ive had zero problems with them. Got them two days after ordering. I think I paid 125 for the pair. Its a lot less work doing the wheel bearing itself and for 125 bucks its worth it in my opinion.

I agree. Change the front bearings out with the hub included. You can buy just the bearings and inner seal, but by the time you get a machine shop to press in the hub, you would be better off using a new assy, ready to drop in. Saves you time, money and aggrevation. Something we can all live without, (the aggrevation, not the money, lol).

i have an 03 fx4 too that needed a bearing replacement. i would recommend doing the whole hub assembly. i had a shop do mine but it definitely seems the better route to do it that way.

Guys, I had a 4wd 2000 f150 hub that was fused to the knuckle. Even the sledge hammer would not break it. So I drilled a 5/8" hole in the stud plate, between the studs, right on edge of plate. I then got a 5/8" 20 tpi bolt from a puller and put the nut in back of the plate and created a reverse press against the knuckle. Did the top first and got a 3/16 gap, stuck a screw driver in the gap, then loosened the press and turned the hub plate to the bottom of the knuckle and repeated the process and then with a little tap from a hand sledge, it popped right off.
If you have decent drills (I just had HS, not titanium or colbalt), you may be able to drill the one hole in 5 minutes and have hub off in 10 minutes (you only need one hole). It took me 40 minutes due to my poor quality drills.
