Default 4r70w rebuild questions

Lost all my forward drive gears the other day so i backed up to a buddys house and had him pull me home.
Tore down the transmission and have yet to nail down what exactly caused it have some questions on tolerances planned on ordering everything i need too night but don't wanna find out something else has to be replaced after assembly

[I]I know that most experience some grooving from age but is this unacceptable and needs replacing?

Wouldn't let me upload the video but was wondering if this play was normal or if one side or another would have to be replaced because of this.
when reordering overdrive servo there's two options theres a 2.680 and a 2.725 it doesn't seem overly worn i'm ordering sonnax sure cure kit would this size difference even come into play since i'm replacing the pin with the one in the kit

since your other post was hi-jacked... thought I would respond here. If you lost all forward gears it means the forward clutch has failed.

The forward sunshell, you posted a picture of is heavily worn, but would not cause the loss of forward gears. The movement in the video you posted is normal.

You will need a clutch spring compressor to get the forward clutch piston out and replace the piston seals. you need lip seals protectors to install the piston back on the drum.

piston seals and forward clutches probably look like this...

The fancy tools help, but if you have acess to anyone with a cheap welder, you can make your own. 4r70 is fairly easy to rebuild and easy to get to hand 600 hp with simple friction plate additions.

I am curious... how you gonna make lip seal protectors with a welder?

Thanks AKDoggie! I've heard too that remanufactured are really just "rebuilds." I'm convinced just letting a shop rebuild it.
