Front Driveshaft Replacement
Hey fellas (& a few ladies im sure), I just got my new f-150 with all the right goodies already on it, but the previous owner gave me a little heads up on the fact that the front driveshaft vibrates slightly when approaching higher speeds in four-wheel drive. I dont ever plan on driving the damn thing on the highway in four-wheel but im curious whether i should just replace the thing now or if that's something I can let sit for awhile until it becomes an issue. Any info would be a big help, thanks.

high speeds in four wheel drive??? is that what you snowbirds do all winter up there while i wear boardshorts and flipflops and run my a/c?? LOL
I imagine any 4 wheel drive vehicle will vibrate some while locked in at speed since you've got more things turning and moving, but a quick check of your driveshaft could tell you a lot. Just grab hold of it at each end and feel for excessive play in the u-joints. does the driveshaft appear to be bent at all?? look for scratches or scuffs where a previous owner could have smacked it on something. Although, it's pretty tucked away in there and kinda hard to hit without collateral damage. If it looks and feels alright with simple observations, drive it around in 4HI and see if you can duplicate what this guy is talking about, it may just be normal sounds or vibrations that he didn't know what they were

Hey thanks for the heads up, and yea we have WAAY too much time on our hands up here (i.e. layoffs & unemployment) lol, but that was some good info on the driveshaft. I tugged on that thing without a bit of movement and nothing appears to be banged up so I would imagine the previous owner was just bein' cautious, thanks again guys!
