Default Front Upper Shock Mounts Rusted Through - RWD

Hi all, new member here. Doing rehab on 1997, F150, XL, 3door, RWD, 5.4 and In great shape( 89k) except for those hidden “oh crap” issues. Changed out new front shocks and found the upper mounts are rusted out. (These mounts are the type with the shock in the middle of the spring. For now, two very large washers sandwiched and gripping between them the edges of the rusted out hole and the rubber bushings sandwiching the washers to hold the upper shocks in place, but this is not for long. Is there a fix? Have seen 1996 and earlier videos with fix. But nothing to remove the 1997 - 2003 models old mount rivets and bolting a new upper mount part in place. Is there a thread/forum addressing a fix or anyone have a source of supply for parts. All help is appreciated.

Need to cut back to good metal and weld new metal in. Older vehicles - you can pay someone or buy new toys, I mean tools, and learn new skills.

Thanks much. I started to go that direction when I couldn’t find a replacement tower for the 1997-2003 models. I think I can grind away most of the top metal to the level flat sides and weld a 3/16. To 1/4 thick washer on 5be very top. Neighbor down the street has good welding background.
thankyou for the comment/help. At least confirms direction.
