Default 4.2L Exhaust

I'm looking to change my factory muffler but I'm concerned about the sound. Any suggestions on what muffler sounds good with the 4.2? If it helps any I have K&N intake, Taylor throttle body spacer, and a 2 inch shackle drop.

I put a set of JBA shorty headers and a 3" Gibson exhaust on mine for a little more power. Didn't change the sound any. That was in 2004 after it was out of warrenty.

I'm not looking to do the headers just the muffler. I'm wanting a little noise but I don't wanna sound like a pissed off bumble bee in a jar.

On my 02 i have catback 45degree out each side bumper... No muffler.. with 3 1/2 tips by 24inchs long...Its got a nice deeper tone, Go for the 3 1/2 to 4inch tips ... And the longest you can find... And it will get ride of alot of the bumble bee sound... The longer the better.

On my 08 i just have a 3 1/2 inch single no tip... And it sounds like a tractor idling and very ricey at WOT

Just a regular flowmaster super 44 or 40 will be great. Look it up on youtube. I've had a ton of different exhausts on mine. I would stay away from the single chamber mufflers, i.e, flowmaster 10 and cherry bomb extreme. Stick to the dual chambered flowmasters.

I'd suggest running it in front of your passenger rear tire. Similar to the lightning setup. With a nice single or dual tip outlet. With these v6s we need anything we can to help out the sound and exhaust tips act like a megaphone because they project the sound outward and help it sound a little throatier.
