Default 302 Swap in 97 F150

I have a 97 f150 with the 4.6l and I was wondering if anyone on here has swapped the 4.6 with a 302, if so how hard was it and what transmission and parts are needed. I prefer manual transmission recommendations. Thanks

It wouldn't be that bad, - if you swapped everything else as well. Gutting the cab and swapping in all pre 10th generation components. Not sure if the dash will fit ?

Added up, it's a lot of work to install a lessor V8, but if that's all you have to work with, it might be doable.

Honestly I like the 302 it's none modular (I hate modular motors) it's small so I wouldn't have to strip a whole lot put and it has potential for huge power in a small package.

Really ? Well, honestly, it's not worth the hassle, expense and time. Two very different platforms. Better off just going with an 8th or 9th gen.

Lots of Mustang guys get big power from a 4.6, but anything is possible with enough time, and cash.

I love it when people try to compare a 3000 pound Mustang To a 6000 pound truck.

Not worth it IMO. You would be way ahead to sell your truck and buy an older gen with the 302.

Why do you hate mod motors?

I love the 302... It's my favorite motor. But ain't no way possible that I could come to terms with making this mistake. Is it possible? Yes. What would you need? A welder, a sawzall, and a 5.0 Explorer.

I could see wanting to oust a 3V, but the 2V is not bad. Overall, the 4.6 is much much stronger than a SBF.

Imo they are underpowered pos's. I had a grand am that made equal power with 2 less cylinders
