2004 F-150 Heritage wheel and tire question
 

Hello everyone,

Here's my baby. My mom bought this truck new in 2003 and let me drive it daily until she sold it to me, after I got my associates in business, in 2010. Since then I have made every repair and modification myself, except for the hood, grill, and tire alignments.

The truck currently has the stock rims and BFG Mud Terrain LT305/70R16 tires. I want to upgrade but translating what I want into wheel/tire language is proving difficult.
I want to get new rims that stick out about an inch more than the stock rims (a -30mm offset) I think. I also want wider tires to match the new rims but I don't want to lose side wall height.
What is the best way to figure out the width of my current wheels?
Can I go bigger than 33in tire without cutting my fender?
What tire would give me the same or more side wall height than my current 305/70 on a wider rim?

If you need your rim width, it should be stamped on the inside of the rim. If you want to know how wide your tires are.... out a tape measure across them?

As far as not losing side wall, the 2nd # is the aspect ratio. It's a ratio of the sidewall to the tire width.

As far as what you can fit, I assume it's 4wd? So are the torsion bars cranked at all? Any sort of lift or level. Can't always tell from pics. But those things will affect what you can fit.

Also I don't think you can fit a 15" rim but rim size will change the sidewall height other than that to increase the sidewall height with your current rims.... you just need a bigger tire.

Thanks, I'll look for that stamp on the rims. It is 4wd and I put a leveling kit on it so the front end is about 2.5" higher. I'm pretty sure you're right, I don't think I can get a 15" rim on due to the brake rotors

I wouldn't change a thing wheel and tire-wise. That's perfect as-is. :yes:

Thanks, glad you like it. I moved to Florida a couple years ago and one of the first things I noticed was that a lot of trucks around here have much wider tires that what I'm used to. I have to say I really like the look. Not too wide though, I want them to stick out past the fender about an inch. Some trucks I've seen have them off set 3-4". I don't like what it does to the look of the rim.

Just know that when you start using spacers or offsets that push the wheels outward, suspension components and wheel bearings tend to wear out more quickly.
I already coat the side of my truck with road grime, mud, etc. as it is. I can't imagine how much worse it would be if the tires went out past the fenders.

My moog bearings lasted me 7k miles this go round!! Make the count 5 sets to date! These trucks absolutely do not do well with offset wheels.

I would change nothing on your rig.....looks fine the way it is
