Default 2003 Lariat alarm

Hi folks, I’m told that any truck with the door keypad is also equipped with an anti-theft alarm. How does that work?
how is it armed, disarmed and what causes it to go off?
Thank you.

Armed when you hit lock... disarmed when you hit unlock. It goes off when someone breaks into your car.... as far as how it works see attached picture

Remote entry is not an alarm.
There is panic button on remote
Chirp means door locked

Theft prevention is passive. Thats the P in pats.

If there is a factory alarm, it was an option. It is not standard with remote entry. Nor is it even listed as option in 2003 brochure.

Try this: Roll your window down, lock the doors with the fob, wait a minute, then open the door with the inside handle. I think you'll quickly realize that there *is*, indeed an anti-theft component to the RKE system.

Ford mentions it on the name of the module.

PATS *is* passive, but functions whether or not the doors are locked.

Nope.

As described in owners manual it is a "personal alarm".
There are no sensors, etc and it is not an alarm system.

That might work on my wife's car
It it definitely does not on a 2003 F-150 lariat with keyless entry

about the only security part of it is it confirms to you that the doors are locked and it will not do that if there's a door that is not completely closed . I'm pretty sure it even chirps and confirms doors are locked even if you have a broken lock.....

Yep, you're right. I was thinking about my '95 Mustang. Whoops.

The truck also doesn't seem to care if a door is open or closed when you lock with the fob. The only way I get a horn honk is if I hit the lock button it twice quickly. Wonder if that's a programmed function(?). (FWIW, my '99 was the same way.)

My truck "double honks" if you double lock it with the door open

Just gives a single honk when you double lock it with the doors closed
