Default 2003 F150 Headlights stay on

I have a 2003 Ford F150 with automatic headlights. When the light switch is in the off position the head lights and parking lights stay on. They stay on no matter what position the light switch is in. They only shut off approx 30 seconds after the ignition is turned off. Any ideas?

that seems very technical. I can't help, but why don't you make a quick call to a nearby dealership's service department. If the problem is on now and you are looking for a quick solution, try finding a Ford dealership in Hawaii online and call their service department. I am sure someone is there as it's still afternoon there and they can help.

My 2010 just started doing this yesterday. Lights stay on for like 5 mins. Did you find out what it was?

Check your owners manuel that may be an option. Most newer cars do that.

The head light switch was bad. Keep in mind that my lights were on with the switch in the off position. Not sure if that is what yours is doing also.

Yea mines doing the exact same thing. It happened when I was having an aftermarket alarm installed. He said he had to turn the switch on and off to check the power load of the wires or something and might have caused the switch to malfunction. Lights stay on even with the switch in the off position and fog lights wont turn on. They stay on for 5-10 mins before shutting themselves off

Do you have the assembly that has the AutoLamp feature? High failure item. I'm on my 3rd module now (160K miles). No aftermarket wiring for alarm or remote start. There's an integrated circuit in there that "freezes" - and if you opened up the switch assembly, there's also a transistor in there that tends to burn up/out (you can see the evidence on the circuit board). They're about $50 used on Ebay (the whole switch assembly, that is)...
