2003 4r70w trans issue

i have a 2003 f150 supercab fx4 with 4.6. It has developed a hard/delayed shift between 2-3 gears. I can ease out of the throttle right when I feel it shift and is a little smoother but sometimes it acts like it kinda hangs. What’s weird is it doesn’t do it all the time and turning OD off seems to really help it. Truck just rolled over 200k. I bought it with 150k on it and had the trans fluid/filter serviced by local reputable shop when I bought it. The shop owner passed a few years ago and there isn’t anyone around local I trust to take it to.
I dropped the pan and changed the filter and fluid 2 weeks ago. Fluid wasn’t horrible and surprisingly no metal surprises in the bottom of the pan. The truck shifted fine up until yesterday. It started back with 2-3 gear problem. Is there anything in particular I could do or try to diagnose and prevent possible damage?
thanks in advance

Have you tried resetting the computer by removing the battery cables over night? Im curious if its a computer issue or mechanical.

Try searching the Excursion and Expedition forums for shift related problems.
I've read about shift issues being related to solenoids in these modern transmissions.
I haven't had any problems with our 2002 and 2003, yet.

It sounds like the transmission hasn't seen much attention during its life. It sounds like a sticking shift solenoid due to some debris which got attracted to it. You could try a cleaning agent such as Seafoam, drive it for a while, do another pan drop and see if things slowly improve. By seeing temporary improvement after a pan drop may suggest this theory. Do not have a flush job of any kind done.

kinda what I was thinking.....maybe solenoid related. Where are the shift solenoids located?
I won’t ever do a flush job on any automatic.....this is my first auto. I’ve always been a big fan of a clutch pedal...LOL

Still acting up from time to time......randomly hanging between 2-3rd.
any info or experience with shift solenoids?

Sounds like maybe broken 2-3 accumulator spring. A solenoid works, or it doesn't.

is that someting you can acess by dropping the pan?
I dont have any reputable trans shops around me i trust......is it something a mechanically inclined weekend warrior could possibly fix?
i did notice today, when it acted up....shifted from 2-3, it felt like i threw it in N for 2 seconds....squeeled a little bit, then went ahead and shifted. It doesnt do that all the time
