Default Mustang motor in 1995 F-150

I am looking at upgrading my truck. you know hooping it up a bit. I have had this truck 6 years and have always considered putting the same year mustang engine in it. Reason this year last year before they went to 4.6. I have a 302 5.0 and have considered going either with a cobra motor, a 351w, or simply rebuilding mine. I would like to be between 300-350 hp when its all said and done. I also want to keep it reable since it will be my daily drive either that or buy new truck which in these economic times just looks like a bad idea all the way around. This truck has been great so far and has totally converted to a Ford guy. any ideas on this i read recently that a guy put a 96 4.6 mustang into a 96 f-150 but this is totally a different truck and motor. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appericated. Also running a rebuild stock trans, and stock rear end. should i simple just put whole mustang drive train in instead of whats in now.

Depending on how much you have to spend you could go with a stroker kit for your 302, think you can get about 347 cubic inches out of it. If you can afford it you can upgrade the intake, heads and cam. I think you can get 350 hp pretty easy with this combination. The stock mustang 302s usually put out about 180-190hp to the wheels. I think some of the non HO 302s used a different firing order than the old mustang motors.

if your considering a 4.6 motor, the 01 plus motors are the best to go with, the 5.4 in the 99 plus years are the best. to be honest a 351 with the usual bolt ons would prob make you more then pleased

if you go with the mustang motor remember the stang cam wont work well with your truck. it wont have the low end torque you need to get movin. it would be easier to stroke it or go with a 351.
