Not necessarily need new O2s. I had same prob. Replaced isolator bolts and upper plenum gasket and codes went away. I had same codes he had. Once fixed no codes at all and never replaced my O2s Cleaned everything like everyone is suggesting. And more. Of course I had 5 of 6 egr ports clogged shut too. Lol.
OTG02 is correct. Good catch!

Life gets in the way sometimes, so it's been a while since I visited. Thanks for all the responses, it's very helpful and I appreciate it.
I broke down and had both the rear main seal and the oil pan gasket replaced. I can do a lot of my own stuff, but I don't have a lift and dropping the tranny is maybe a tad more than I can handle.
At the time I had that done, as I left the shop the motor was shuddering something horrible. I could barely get out of the parking lot, so I turned back and told them. They replaced the ignition coil pack (for no charge) and it runs like a top now.
I still have the CEL and I'm sure it's the same codes as mentioned before. With the exception of what seems like excessive pinging the truck is running great. Pinging seems to occur mostly between 40 and 70 MPH and under light to moderate load. Coasting = no pinging and hard throttle = no pinging.
Are there some decent tutorials on the isolator bolt and gasket replacement job? My truck just turned 200k miles, and I really want it to get another 200k, so if this is a job I can handle I'll probably take a stab at it.
Thanks y'all,
Chris

Frank Ford's note is great. After doing those inexpensive fixes read OTG02's comments on isolator bolts and upper plenum gasket - that's what fixed mine - fuel economy went from 13mpg to about 17.5mpg as well. A good mechanic will also clean your EGR ports while doing the bolts/plenum. Common problem with the 4.2L that starts at about 125,000 miles or so.

I haven't seen this as solving the codes so you may want to look into this.
I had 1131 & 1151 codes that would come back very quickly after clearing. Slightly rough annoying idle. Very slight surging at idle. Annoying stumble taking off in first...not a smooth take off. Higher than normal fuel trims.
I had ordered 4 sensors then canceled after reading around and started looking for vacuum leak.
Spraying around and seemed to have an ever so slight response at the pcv valve and no where else.
Pulled the valve, the valve was good but not a good snug fit coming out or when I put it back in so I suspected the o-ring.
Got the pcv valve from walmart online $18 store pickup dealer wanted $38. The fit was much more tight, big difference. Ford told me they don't sell just the o-ring. Fuel trims are now great. No codes. Will update if anything changes.
