Default 2002 4.2 l

Hey guys, I'm new to trucks and would really like to get an f-150. I've been looking at them and am seriously considering a 2002 with the 4.2l v-6. It has like 85000 miles. The link is here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2002-...#ht_500wt_1182 . If you guys could help me out it would be much appreciated. Questions I have are:
is this a good price? how reliable is this model? how much life does this truck have in it? what kind of gas milage would this truck get?

Thanks

4.2l Motor is not really Fords best engine. To be honest you can find a nicer truck for the cash to be spent on that one. I would try and find one with Fords 5.4l TRITON motor. Solid engine and has a lot of power.

I paid 8 for my 03 stock. I've got a friend with 324k miles on his stock 4.2 with nothing major changed on it. I get about 19mpg driving 75 on the highway

I just bought a 2002 F150 supercab 4.2 V6 with 133K miles on it for $5,500 from a Ford dealer. I didn't need to pay the gas man to feed a V8 for what I need the truck for.

I agree that the 4.2l has it's share of issues but all engines do. All in all it's a pretty reliable motor. It all comes down to what you want to do with the truck, if you're going to tow a small cargo trailer once in a while and do dump runs and stuff it'd be good, but if you're going to tow a bigger trailer or like a 19+ foot boat you might want to consider a 4.6l or 5.4l.
