I have a 97 F-150 and a Hail storm got my drivers side mirror. I couldn't Find one local, so I got one off of a 2001 F-150 and put it on .Plugs were different, but had the same colored wires, so I grafted my plug on to the new mirror. It will go up and down, but not in or out. Replaced switch with same results. I went back to the plug I grafted on and since the motors in the mirror have yellow and red to one and yellow and blue to the other, I switched the red and blue wires at the plug. Now when I push the switch up and down the mirror goes in and out, but not up and down.

Can someone tell me how to fix this? Is it a wiring issue, the switch, or the mirror? Thanks for any help.

Disconnect the mirror and use a tester. Touch it to a pin in the plug and press up, no light press down, no light press in, no light press out. Do this until you have identified each wires function then when you hook the mirror up and in out wont work youll know which wires your needing to adjust.
