Default Air Intake Tube

My truck has a spectre drop in filter with stock intake and I cut off some of the end of the rubber boot that stick in the hole in the fender. Would replacing the stock rubber tube that goes from the filter housing to the throttle body with aftermarket tube be better? Mine doesn't have the intake silencer.

Would it be enough performance wise to make it worth it?

I take it you have a 4.2? And yes a solid bent tube would give less turbulence and greater air flow. Gotts mod has absolutely nothing to do with this either

He isnt looking for the GOTTS MOD information, in his original post he states he put off the plastic that goes from the fender to the filter area, so the GOTTS MODS can't be done.

Actually, mine has a rubber "tube" that attaches to the air filter housing and the other end goes into the hole in the fender. I just trimmed part of that rubber tube where it goes in the fender hole.

Yes, I have the 4.2l v6. Ok, I just need to find a tube with the same bend and length as the stock rubber tube and find a reducer that will go from the size of the openings on the stock filter housing down to the size of the aftermarket intake tube.

Ah I see, I misunderstood also, I have the 5.4 and cut my piece from the fender to the filter and that is what it sounded like you did. But in the end a new pipe from the filter to the TB will help, just not sure with the V6 if it will be that noticeable.
