2001 ford f150 4x4 wil not start
 

it cranks over and it will fire with starting fluid briefly. it acts as though it's not getting fuel I think its a problem with the theft protection because the theft protection light is blinking. it has a5.4L V8 SOHC 16V engine. can anyone assist me with this, please? a while back i could disconnect the battery and reconnect it then it would start. but that does not work any more.

check the wires going to the fuel pump. make sure their not corroded or anything. also check the fuel pump relay

Do you have a second (chipped) key you could try? If your theft light is flashing, this is an issue with PATS. Might require the dealer to reflash or replace your ECU.
