Some people take this opportunity to replace rear seal as a preventive maintenance so they don't have to pull tranny again should it develop a leak due to wear. Maybe that's what he is talking about. Some also replace the torque converter at this time.

Sorry for saying flywheel I didnt read what the new one said and just went from what the mechanic called it.

socket prolly won't fit in there anyway, just use the closed end of a wrench
