Thanks for the info, I did see the video. What exactly do I do when I get access? Is the a part to replace? What would I expect to pay someone for doing this for me? Is it true that is it is stuck and I turn the switch to vent I won't get any air? Thanks

Did you remove the airbag to get access. Another thing you can do is turn your air on max but have fan on lowest level. Turn radio off and have it as quite in the truck as possible. Turn the **** off max or to vent and listen for the fresh air vent. Mine will squeak a little and you can hear it open and close.
You should not need access to the blend door if the air warms up as you turn to temp **** to get warmer.

I'm getting more confused. I tried the quiet listen for the door to open when I went from max to vent. I believe I did hear a click but nothing else. Max AC works, heater works, normal AC no air out dash but air does come out when the vent is on. I'm trying to avoid having the dash removed.

Jerry your problem is most likely the fresh air vent. I can't remember if dash needs to be removed to access the vent. But I would say if you hear a click it is probably not moving.

Do a google search on 2004 Ford Explorer fresh air vent and you will find some good info on what I'm referring to.

Would I get air blowing out on vent setting if the fresh air wasn't opening?
