2001 4.2L F-150 Power Upgrades
Look at it this way.
1994-96 5.0 V8 made 195 hp and 270 lb-ft
10th gen 4.2 V6 makes 202 hp and 252 lb-ft
Not a huge difference.
So far the most effective "easy" power gains I can find are:
Tuner (I'm looking at SCT myself)
Electric Fans
And gear change
I'm planning on doing all of these to my 4.2 soon but to make big power you'll want some type of Turbo or super charger and by then you might as well sell it and get something with more power from the factory.
These motors are dead reliable and perfect in the F-150 for people like me that don't pull trailers often. Even on the occasions that I do haul heavy loads it's never felt like it couldn't do it or that it was being pushed too hard.

When I got my 4.2 truck I looked into this. The only thing I could find is. The thunderbird super coup was a super charged v6. The top end, heads, intake, and super charger will fit on the 4.2 block. I found no cams short of having them custom made. As for the CAI. The stock ford is a true cold air intake and out performs any aftermarket out there.
was interested in that thunderbird setup
