2000 F150 xl automatic 8 cyl 2wd 4.6L

When I put in park the gear shift indicator shows as if it is R - reverse..than when I put it in R ...it shows as if it's in N - neutral
and same happens to other indicators....

Finally I can not put it in 1 ...no further movement possible..

what is the solution?

is this transmission problem or something minor like adjustment ?

Sounds like your shifter indicator is just out of alignment.

There is a small plastic gear for adjustment but you might end up needing a new shift indicator assembly if yours is broken.

well I checked something...and yes gear indicator bracket was broken but I was not patient to order and wait for bracket to arrive so I used zip tie ...it works for now..
