Torque all of them to 28 lbs. Do NOT use antisieze. Make sure all coils are mounted securely they should move when bolted in snugly from side to side only. Do not over tighten the little coil bolt or anything like that.

Helicoil is NOT the way to go on these. Time-Sert or CalVan is the only way to roll.

Upon inspection this morning, I found no blown out spark plugs. But I found a blown out ignition coil. I'm assuming that this would cause the same symptoms as a blown out spark plug.

That coil needed compression to be blown out. Check that plug closer. Compression is getting past it.

Wouldn't it be the release of compression resulting in pressure not being held in by the spark plug which is no longer screwed in the head?
Anyway, that coil did not tip over on its' own, it kept the plug from being launched thru the hood.

in order to blow out the coil you need to blow out the plug..

That's what I was getting at.... just because the plug is still in the hole doesn't mean it didn't blow out, or become loose.

I am scared to death of this happening, I torqued mine to 20, I think Ford says 13. I also used anti-seize twice before. I cleaned them up and did not use it this time.

Should I go back and re-torque to 28 foot lbs.?

Also, should I get a thread tool to chase the threads to clean them up? This also scares the hell out of me.

i wouldn't be too worried about it. it is an easy fix really. i knew about this possible issue when i bought my 05. i was not surprised when it finally blew a plug at 252k miles. i went the re-tap and rebuild route after it happen.
