Default 2000 f150 5.4 collapsed lifter?

I have a 2000 F150 5.4 with 175,000 miles on it. It started making this noise one night after a long drive on the highway. It didn't make a pop or a cracking sound when it started. It just let go. It also smells like burning oil really bad. oil pressure is normal. Could this possibly be a collapsed lifter?

But would that cause the smell of burning oil?

The hole where the exhaust is exiting rather than the spark plug should be. That is your oil smell.

Blown plug. These engines dont have "lifters" they have cam followers. I doesn't mater about that. Thats a blown plug. I've had a couple. Time sert. Ford lock and stitch the only repairs that work. DO NOT heilicoil.

Exhaust. like already said. Take you hand and feel above the coils or just look at them usually they eject with enough force to blow the coil clean out but not always.

There is a possibility that upon ejection stuff got in the chamber and damage things like valves or the cylinder wall or the rings. Thats rare. usually it is just a mater of installing an insert with a new plug and coil and your back on the road. I can repair a blown plug in my driveway in 90 minutes and I'm old worn out and fat.

Find out for sure if you have a blown plug, fix it, then look for the smell of oil.
I used the Timesert repair kit for mine and have had no problems.
Do not use a Helicoil.
Timesert has a repair insert for Helicoil blowouts, too.
Have the spark plugs ever been changed?
If not, then change them all along with the boots.
The 2000 5.4L 2v engines are not known for spark plugs breaking when removing like later models.
