Talking 1999 F-150 Lariat Supercab

Well I did it, I pulled the trigger and bought a 1999 F-150 Lariat. But here's the kicker.

The theft light was on. Only 1 key too. So even knowing that going into it I took the plunge. Took it to my mechanic, and we're now waiting on the new computer brains to come in. The computer was dead, once he has that installed we can see where we're at. Should be good, he can do the new extra key since you need 2 to program it and get it going again.

I'm really excited about this truck and even though it was once a work truck. It is becoming the project truck of choice for my son and I. We are going to be replacing cosmetics from the U-Pull junkyards as we can.

At this point I got the truck for $500 had to pay another $85 to have it towed. $180 for the new computer, $60 for the new shift lever, $3 for the new side emblems.

I'm so anxious about getting that computer installed and actually seeing the truck crank. My mechanic is super confident that it's gonna be a great truck other than the fact its dirty. The dirt I can clean, need him to fix it and get it running for me. That part is outside of my wheelhouse of expertise.

I'll posting pictures and updates along the way. I assure you I have a ton of questions too. Just don't see posting questions about the truck I am still awaiting, but rest assured I'll have plenty of questions soon enough.

Default Still Waiting...

New computer brain set to arrive on Monday... then my mechanic will plug it in and see where we're at. If all goes well, I'll be in it for around $1000 bucks. I sure hope it goes well. Damn, whoever thought I'd be happy to see a Monday come around. Grrrrrrrrrrr... 72 hours... Damn that's a long time to wait.

Well hopefully it works out. 1000 for a new truck is a great deal. Lol

The "brains" arrived a day early. Took it and the new shift lever to my mechanic.

Holy crap I'm nervous. Not the kind of person to take a flyer on a truck known not to run but if this works out... Well I'll have a kick butt F150 supercab for less than $1200. If it doesn't I won't even have beer money to cry over.

Crossing all the fingers and toes for a good outcome. Talked with my Mech last night... he said he might be able to get to it today... We'll see what happens.

More to follow when an update is warranted.
