1999 5.4L 4WD compressor model
 

I am trying to find a replacement compressor for my 1999 F150 5.4L 4wd and finding all sorts of conflicting compatibility. Short of pulling the old to find the model, ordering it's replacement, and waiting for it to ship does anyone know a sure fire wait to find which replacement I need?

From rockauto looks like you really just need to know if you have a 6 or 8 groove pulley

Should be an 8 groove. Never seen a Gen 10 Triton 6 groove.

Wonder why rockauto lists it? Either way ya look at yours confirm it's 8 and buy from rockauto or another parts store if ya want.

Not sure, but I've seen them list other things that were odd too.

When I need to know the right part I usually call The parts counter at my local dealer and talk to them. And I get the Ford part number.

Can I tell the number of grooves by just looking at an old belt in my garage?

Yes... count the ribs.

I am 100% confident it is an 8 rib.
