To me, my F150 is my personal "tank" and goes places most other vehicles could not and is one tuff hauler and puller. It's a beast. I wear my seat belt and have hit my head many times on the roof from impact with holes and junk on and getting to job sites.
The F150 did, and still does, get the highest gas mileage for its size and performance of any full sized pickup truck. That's fact.
I think we have some GMC, Toyota, and Nissan ringers (or S10 Ranger owners) here who get PO'd if you say Ford F150 is the best pickup.
I mean, who that uses their F150 for work and hauling all the time would trash it like some here with bogus 5 year old comments?
One other person said they got 8.0 0-60. I said I get 7.5 and got jumped on by laughing clowns. Depending on fuel amount in the tank, air temp, tires, weight in the truck, tune, chip, K&N, cold air intake, air in tires, etc. that's about as close as it gets.
My claim is confirmed.
Now all you Ford haters quit pretending you have an F 150 and go to to the imported truck or GMC forums or some other forum with your foolishness, and leave us F 150 lovers alone. I may be wrong but the web address is not "trashthefordf150forum.com". And children, stay off your mommy's computer. And to the jealous " I want one but can't afford one" get a job and buy one.
I love my truck and could not be happier with performance and gas mileage. I had better love my truck, because the way it is as far as dependability and lack of repairs, I am stuck with it for a long long time since it is a baby F150 and only has 99,000 miles. When it gets to over 250,000 I might start to worry.
Some of you need to wait for a Toyota Prius or Honda Fit pickup, it's just your style and perfect for you.
Wish the rain would stop so I could go to work.
I am going bankrupt with this weather.
GO FORD.
First On Race Day.

OK, this is for most people on this thread, excluding "the jerk".
I looked on the web.
The Ford F150 4.2 with 5 speed has 0-60 times from 6.5 (NOX) to 8.9 with the norm being 8.9 (stock). All engines are different, and some stock engines get 8.1 0-60 which is not far off from 7.5. The times depend on the state of tune and mods as well as compression, etc. If you in fact have a 4.2 with a 5 speed and you cannot do 0-60 in 8.9 seconds, your truck has problems.
I bought my truck used from a dealer. I have no idea what has been done to the engine, what cam it has, whether it has been bored, what chip mods have been done, whether it has been stroked, what valve mods have been done, what ignition mods have been done, or what the final drive ratio is. I don't need to know because in over a year I have not had one single problem. All I know is that I was shocked when it did 0-60 in 7.5. So shocked I tested it over and over again. My neighbor had a mustang 6 and took it to a performance shop and when it got it back it would burn rubber like a Ferrari, so I know that engine has performance potential. All I know is my truck is super dependable and has no problems. ANYONE who thinks a 6 or even a 4 cannot outrun an 8, knows nothing about engines. There are souped up 4 cylinder 16 valve twin turbo VW's (Golf etc.) putting out 500-900 HP.
(now prove your ignorance and say that is impossible, I've been to Europe I have seen the cars. INCREDIBLE!).
I bought that truck because the Ford mechanic told me the 4.2 was the most durable and dependable engine, if you kept the oil changed it would last 200,000+ miles. He warned me about the many issues of the V8's from 97-2003. The same issues you read about here over and over again. I wanted a 5 speed because I like control of the shift points. And yes, it does do 0-60 in 7.5. In fact if I am not careful when starting off from light, it will do a NASCAR style victory burn every freekin time. That's the facts Jack.
As for "the jerk" I will put him on the exclude list so I don't have to read ANY of his garbage on this forum.

4.2s are "dependable" because everyone that wants to dog an engine buys the v8. also, all engines last longer than 200k if you change the oil and dont rag it.
other than the spark plug issue with the 5.4, what are some of the "many issues" you speak of?
your truck may do 0-60 in 7.5, but whats the trailer weight rating? cuz thats the important thing in a truck

I reread your first post and damn your right. The 4.2's do 0-60 in 7.5 seconds and Nacar burnoutouts if your not carefull pulling out. And that's the fact Jack. That and the fact Chevy's and Dodges ony get 9-11 mpg who would want a piece or crap V-8 or V-10 not me! They are soo special with there STEEL BOXED frames. My crappy 97 V-8 only has the frame boxed in the front end. They even have a huge 25 gallon gas tank. I really wish I could get me one of those special fords and be special like you.
