1997 f150 4.2 liter not shifting into high gear
I have a 1997 F150 4.2 but it will not shift into high gear i have the chiltons book for it but cant figure out what is going on. It shifts perfectly for every other gear even got a rebuilt one for it and still will not do it. I am a great shadetree mechanic never had one complaint but i cant figure out what is going on. What am i missing folks?

If it isn't even trying to shift then I would start at the shifter and make sure the button isn't depressed or stuck and the light burnt out. Sometimes the easy solution is the right one.

Then definitely check that switch.
